Member Houses

Well we've been discussing this for a long time in the staff board and thought we'd finally bring it over to here so the members could have their say
It's something we used to have on KSF (my old forum) and we've been wanting to start it here aswell, but so far haven't due to lack of members, but now we're thinking of going ahead with it.
Incase you didn't know, what happens is the forum's members get split into 4 groups (houses), each house has a Captain (usually a staff member, and they captain the house and have the oppurtunity of creating a logo for it etc., and they also choose the houses colour theme and all that), a Vice-Captain (to help out and do the captain's job if he/she is away) and then regular members. The object basically is to make your house the best house on the forum (Highest posting etc.), but within each house battles will take place for top poster (or anything else) of that individual house.
But before we start, we're looking towards our very creative members () for any extra ideas. These include a new word for 'House' (any suggestion will be appreciated, Member 'House' sounds slightly cheesy and non-forum related). Names for the individual houses- An idea I had was starting each one with 'Team' to take the piss slightly out of "Team GB" (what Great Britain are now always referred too in the Olympics). The simple route would be to give each 'house' a band name, and the 4 bands chosen would all completely vary. But I'm sure we could come up with something more creative, maybe have slightly Gothic/Philisophical names or Mythological names?
Anyway, I'd like to here everyone elses views on this

Sounds cool! Maybe instead of "house" have "band"? Since it's a rock/metal forum, having member bands could be cool ^^

It'd be good to get some other thoughts in too

I've just planned out the possible groups, and it looks almost completely even, apart from my house which obviously has more total posts to date due to my own amount alone, but a lot of my posts were creating hundreds of threads at the very start of the forum before opening, and so my posting is much more even now alongside other members, creating what should be extremely close houses providing extremely close contests.
Here is the possible line-up I've just drawn up for the yet-to-be named houses:

House 3 currently has 9 members whilst the rest have 8, and obviously when new members join they'll join a vacant house

NOTE: Please note that this isn't yet official and the Member Houses have not yet officially begun, when they do begin I will tell you, the Member House venue will be inside the "Member Competitions" board, the houses will be named, each house will get their own logo, own team colours, which house you belong to will be displayed in your "mini-profile" ie: when you send posts, and the competitions will begin!

can the captain and vice captain come up with names ??

Well it's extremely like the names will be themed, so maybe, but not your completely own name..... For example if the names are decided to be based on genres or bands then it will have to be within that

Yeah I get what you mean, but it is a metal and rock forum so I'd have chosen a name accosiated with that

If it was to be based on metal sub-genres, maybe Team Black, Team Thrash, Team Cyber, and Team Grind would be the best, unless someone can come up with something better?
The names may not end up themed after all, but I don't think so yet. There's always a chance though ^^

I think it'd be a good idea to name Team one Team Black, since Requiem and Elysium Blaze are both big black metal fans ^^

I thought it'd be appropiate to have my house as the Black Metal team, seeing as Requiem and Elysian Blaze are both in it, and I myself am a fan of black metal

I see a slight imbalance in the teams. you have 3 regs for a start, the first being more prolific than some houses 2nd posters and even without the initial thread starting you the month stats still show you top. priority should go to a other houses.

What members would you like to see swapped around?

Actually it doesn't look so bad, there's none that desperately needs to be assigned blaze from you, but as blase is looking like becoming the closest thing to a 9th regular (I haven't seen the detailed posting patterns) the one thing that's certain is it shouldn't be you. the lists aren't recent enough for me to remember the exact makeup of the others. maybe not starom and chez's house as even if she isn't on for a bit, he's by far the most prolific poster around (he's not far from me and has only been on for a fraction of the time. maybe mine, has Gemma been on much recently. admitedly its compicated, maybe you could divide everyone into groups of 4, ranked by posts per day, every house gets one from each group, the last to get one from a group gets the highest poster from the next tier, if that makes sense. or we could do it playground style.

If we worked on that format then I'd still be with Requiem and you'd still be with Gemma, but Jesse would be with Starom, and Chez would be with Alisha rather than the vice-versa.
So there isn't any real difference there.

(Admittedly it's House 3 that looks like struggling the most so maybe they should have Starom for a bigger fighting chance, and Alisha would join Chez in House 4)

Well it's safe to say that House 1 owns all.

I suppose its as good as we can get, when I get homethis evening I'll do some analysis.

Also I think it's been more-or-less decided now that House 1 will be called "Team Black" and House 3 (Now with Starom instead of Aliexx) will be "Team Grind"
There's just Houses 2 & 4 left to name, Team Cyber and Team Thrash seem the best choices, which name would each of you houses like?

Out of those 2? definitely Cyber.

So House 4 is Thrash, I think that's settled now, perfect.

House 1: Team Black
House 2: Team Cyber
House 3: Team Grind
House 4: Team Thrash
