There was no difference in my experience (though one of my sister's schools (all girls) was no uniform but there were still rules, you had to be 6th form to wear trousers/jeans) between years. there were the gowns for scholars/purples (school monitors), colours jumper and various ties but that was for different qualifications.

In my school there's no dress code for sixthformers but in other schools I know there are strict rules..
